We are Unrepentant American Patriots (January 20, 2021)

Today our nation inaugurates the forty-sixth President of the United States. The transfer of awesome responsibility from one President to the next, replete with its beautiful imagery and democratic importance, is both a national treasure and an international wonder.

Today is not unlike the transition between our second and third Presidents, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. President Adams, an aggrandizer with strong opinions, served an immensely controversial term. He loved America and Americans and used his sharp tongue and sharper pen, honed from years as a trial lawyer, to preserve and protect our republic and its people. He was defeated by his friend, elected from an opposing party. A general mode of crisis, fear, and anger plagued the press and republic, and tempers of the nation boiled over. President Adams left the capitol under cover of darkness without attending his successor’s inauguration, thereby returning power to where it rightfully rests - with the people. In the two hundred twenty-one years hence, our republic has fought within, yet reconciled as one nation each and every time.

If you think our nation is fractured because of a single President, you have not been listening. If you think that fracture can be eradicated by hate and labels, you have not been observing. If you think blacklisting, censorship, or even death intimidates us, then you know nothing of patriots, who will advocate for this republic through their last breath, just as another patriot picks up the torch of liberty. Reconciliation, a noble endeavor, can come only through earned trust and mutual respect. History enlightens us that a nation divided can be reunited if we listen to and respect one another, believe in liberty, and uphold this great Country’s traditions and foundations. We the People have that power, always have, and always will.

As unrepentant American Patriots we celebrate today, even though our forty-sixth President may not have garnered our vote.

As unrepentant American Patriots we wish President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. health, wisdom, and success, even though we believe his election may have come through partly duplicitous means.

As unrepentant American Patriots we thank our forty-fifth President Donald John Trump for his love of this country, and for his sacrifice and service, and wish him health and happiness, even though some may strike us for doing so.

Mr. Presidents, Team Z wishes you Godspeed.

Sincerely,

Today We Celebrate Real Heroes  (May 28, 2021)

PCSing to Hawaii: A must Read - Celester Thomas

Real heroes don't wear jerseys depicting some number; they are our nation’s freedom fighters of the highest caliber.

Real heroes don't erect signs declaring themselves heroes; they serve us endlessly, thanklessly, and selflessly with honor.

Real heroes will never warrant for attention; they act proudly and courageously whether there’s ever any mention.

Real heroes will never kneel before our great flag; they die to honor it – giving all that they have.

Real heroes charge into the face of certain death to protect America and her people – giving us their best.

They write letters home, like this one, painful to read; while we never even knew the struggles they’ve seen.

"I don’t know why I am writing this because I really hope that this letter never gets to you, because if it does that means I am dead.

Just because I have passed away does not mean I am not with you. I’ll always be there looking over you, keeping you safe.

So whenever you feel lonely just close your eyes and I’ll be there right by your side. I really did love you with all I had, you were everything to me."

-Gunner Lee Thornton, Iraq war hero

Real heroes endure the greatest of pains; we remember them to ensure their fight is never in vain.

Team Z knows who real heroes are. Today we celebrate our veterans who died in service of this great country, and pray that they sit at the right hand of God in his loving embrace.

Sincerely,

Justin R. Zinzow
