Never Letting the "Thanks" be Taken from Thanksgiving (November 25, 2020)

As we approach the season of Thanks and Giving, we must realize that our ancestors have known rocky times in their search for the American Dream, but it is in their resilience and courage that we must all give thanks. The tradition of Thanksgiving, like the year 2020, has a rocky story. The first Thanksgiving was deeply rooted in the destructive impact of deadly disease. With no idea what the future would hold, the pilgrims set forth on an unpredictable adventure with an unguaranteed promise of freedom and prosperity. More than half perished from disease. Having suffered the unimaginable loss of friends and family, the pilgrims still found many things to be grateful for, and they arranged a harvest feast to celebrate and live life. They did not hide from the world; they faced it courageously.

Today is no different; we face uncertainties, the fragility of life still exists, and we still have no control over the time we spend on earth. But what we can control is our mind's power to find good, give thanks, and be grateful.

We at Team Z are grateful to live in a country with gifts big and small all around us. A country where others cannot take the “Thanks” out of Thanksgiving. A country where we can celebrate this great and wondrous life and land, and all of you.

With gratitude in our hearts, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Justin R. Zinzow
