Giving Thanks (November 23rd, 2022)

The true origin of Thanksgiving lies not with pilgrims and Native Americans, or with President Lincoln's declaration of a national holiday, but with the Divine. Whether Christian or Jew, Muslim or Hindu, ancient texts command us all to praise the Divine for the gifts bestowed upon us in this life and in the next. "I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High." Psalms 28:7. Let us remember that Thanksgiving is not a secular holiday created by a government of men, but an act of love and supplication with appreciation to our Divine Creator.  

Team Z thanks our Divine Creator that we have been given the gift of life, and pray that we may use that gift to do good in the world;

We thank our enemies for presenting us with the spiritual challenge of forgiveness, that we might strive to be better people to all; and

We thank God for this beautiful nation, rich with the differences amongst its people, but unified in their appreciation of freedom.
