Giving Thanks for Our Shared Blessings (November 26, 2024)

This day of Thanks is an annual reminder of that long weekend in 1621 when the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indians united and celebrated each other’s cultural differences. It is proof that although we may not always see eye to eye, there are lessons to learn from everyone, and there is common ground that unites us all.

This Thanksgiving, we must open our hearts, put faith, and trust in our creator, and use the lessons taught by our ancestors as maps to guide our path forward. Not unlike our ancestors, we are united in our longing for freedom and our constant pursuit of the American Dream. So, on this day, we thank those who came before us and risked all in the name of Freedom. Let their lessons and sacrifices inspire us to embrace our own challenges with steadfast faith. Let us remember the words of Scripture: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).

As we gather with family and friends to celebrate this Thanksgiving, let us take time to pause and honor the blessings God has so generously bestowed upon us; and to reflect on our shared responsibility to care for those in need, fostering a spirit of compassion and generosity in our communities. As we enjoy the bounty of this day, let our hearts be lifted in prayer for our nation, its leaders, and all who serve to protect our freedoms.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
